One of the oldest monasteries in Russia located on the left bank of the Great river, at the confluence of the small river Mirozhki. Because of a low level of literacy the frescoes on subjects from the Old and New Testament in Cathedral of the Transfiguration that completely covering the walls and ceilings, became a picturesque gospel for many generations of people.
